By attending one or more in the  series of workshops for Pre K -12 teachers and after school educators offered by PARTNERS  you can earn one CEU from CSUMB for each ten hours completed.

Arts and Innovation – Creative Studio
Thursday October 25th 4 - 6 pm

Explore hands on education in science and the arts with Dr. Jennifer Colby in a nurturing, playful environment, with plenty of materials from RAFT (Resource Area for Teaching) to experiment with and mentoring in how to link activities to content standards and to develop learning strategies for your classroom or after school program. $20. Includes materials

Literacy and the Environment
Thursday October 18th - 2 and 8 pm for CSUMB students and all interested teachers

Discover how the new Common Core National Standards can be used to develop interdisciplinary lessons that bring together language arts and science. As an example, Drs. Colby and Bynoe will use the novel Seedfolks and the work of the Return of the Natives to develop community gardens in Seaside. $20.

Steinbeck and Monterey Fishing History
Thursday November 8th, 4 - 6 pm

Continuing with mentorship on the new literacy standards this workshop explores curricular connections between the literature of Steinbeck, the 1930s Monterey sardine fisheries and current environmental issues. Integrated lesson plans will use resources of local museums including the Steinbeck Center. $20.
Steinbeck and Monterey Fishing History Part 2
Saturday, TBA, 9am to 1 pm – Limit 20 - $40.

Participants in November 8th workshop will be invited to a Saturday boat trip TBA on the General Pershing, a 1930s fishing vessel being re-launched as a “Classroom on the Bay”. Teachers will engage in ocean-based lessons as well as learn about the history of Monterey fishing and environmental issues.

Project W.E.T. and EEI Curriculum
Saturday, April 14, 9 am– 3:30 pm Project W.E.T. (6 hours)
3:30 – 4:30 pm EEI Orientation

This full Project WET Water Education for Teachers Teacher Training will be followed by an optional orientation to the Education and the Environment Initiative (EEI) curriculum (same as March 14th). Explore Project WET’s award-winning lessons and learn how they can support and connect with EEI, California’s SBE approved K-12 Curriculum that teaches History-Social Science and Science Standards to mastery. Participants will take home both the EEI Curriculum and the newly updated Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide 2.0. $40. Includes materials and box lunch.(Cost reduced to $20) !!
